Texas Gov. George W. Bush was catapulted to the front of the Campaign 2000 pack even before venturing outside his home state. He has received a great deal of media attention, he's flush with money and he already has collected numerous endorsements. All this for someone serving in his first elective office. This has led his opponents to wonder whether his success is inherited or achieved.

He carries the expectations of supporters in Texas, the weight of his family name and the hopes of many in the Republican Party establishment who have invested in him hopes of retaking the White House.
