On March 24, 2001, a renovated Civil War-era stagecoach pulled by mules left Springfield, Missouri to recreate the Butterfield Overland Stagecoach route. Headed by coach owner Rick Hamby and Tombstone resident Pete Kline, this crew completed the first cross-country stagecoach journey attempted in more than 100 years. It was not an easy task, but two months and 2,000 miles later, the team arrived in Tombstone, Arizona on May 26 to a crowd of cheering supporters.
