Liscum says Marana has motivationArizona Daily Star

Marana senior forward Steffani Liscum has waited months for a rematch with nemesis Flowing Wells. When the two teams met for the only time this season on Dec. 7, the Caballeros took the game 49-27, continuing an unbeaten streak that is now at 27.
The Tigers (23-4) face top-seeded Flowing Wells (32-1) on Saturday in the 4A-I championship at 2 p.m. at Jobing.com Arena in Glendale. Liscum talked with the Star after practice Thursday about No. 3 Marana's chances of winning its first state title since 1989.
"I am not surprised to be in the state championship game because it was one of our goals the whole season. I'm really not surprised, but I am excited. Playing up in the arena will be fun. It's something new for us.
I think everyone works hard on our team. Even if we don't have as much talent as Flowing Wells, we work really hard. It gets us to where we want to be.
We've gotten a lot better since December. We have a lot better chance to make it a better game against Flowing Wells this time. Hopefully, we'll win.
Since we know what they do now, we have a better game plan. We're just going to execute what we go over in practice and it should turn out a little better for us.
All five starters are seniors so we don't want to have our last game as a loss. That's our motivation. We have a lot of motivation to win.
(Being an underdog) makes us just want to show people that much more that we're a good team. It gives us a lot of motivation to show everyone what we have.
Everyone on the team is really good friends so it helps our chemistry. We don't have to worry about things off the court ever. We can concentrate on the game. We can concentrate on winning state.
Everyone's parents are going to the game. There are a few kids from our classes that are going too. We have a really good support system. It really pumps you up when they start cheering. It keeps you going.
Winning and being state champions is something to look forward to."
