Arizona signee Brandon Jennings scored 63 points Tuesday and broke another scoring record for perennial prep powerhouse Oak Hill Academy.
Jennings shot 25 of 40 from the field, making 13 of 21 three-pointers, and added seven assists and five steals while Oak Hill beat Bonner Academy of Raleigh, N.C., on Tuesday.
Jennings outscored the entire Bonner team in the 123-58 rout.
"He was in his groove," Oak Hill coach Steve Smith said Wednesday. "He made pull-ups, threes and got to the basket. He was doing whatever he wanted to do. He could have scored 75 if I left him out there."
Smith, noting that Bonner never changed a 2-3 zone throughout the game, said he took Jennings out for good with 4:51 left.
"I didn't want him out there for five minutes just padding it," Smith said.
Jennings, who was named to the McDonald's All-American game, has already broken the Oak Hill single-season scoring record with 1,133 points, easily surpassing Josh Smith's 908. He is averaging 35.4 points a game.
