Third-seeded Amphitheater is one-step closer to the Class 4A-II state championship after topping No. 6 Phoenix Arcadia in four games Thursday to advance to the semifinals.
Game scores were 30-28, 25-21, 22-25 and 25-16 in the quarterfinal at Amphi.
With the teams tied at 28 in Game 1, setter Samantha Reynolds helped her team take charge by dumping it over the net. Erin Bradley ended it with an ace.
"We came out fighting like we were behind," Reynolds said. "I think Amphi is known to fight, and that's what pushed us."
Arcadia bounced back from a 10-2 deficit in the second game.
"There was never really a worry that we would lose. I keep my kids confident," coach Rachel Williams said. "I teach them to battle back and to fight for every point. They're a young group, but they've learned to keep it together when things are tough."
After losing Game 3, an ace from Taylor Lane gave Amphi the 22-16 advantage. The Panthers went on to take the game with two Bradley attacks and an error from Arcadia's Melissa Toth.
"I knew that I had my team behind me," Bradley said. "I knew that they would give me great passes."
Bradley led Amphi (34-6) with 12 kills, three blocks and an ace.
Amphi will play No. 2 Chandler Seton Catholic on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the semifinal at Gilbert Perry High School. The title match is at 5 p.m.

Sahuarita 3, Flagstaff Sinagua 1: (25-27, 26-24, 25-19, 25-16): Sahuarita progressively improved throughout the course of its 4A-II state quarterfinal match against 12th-seeded Sinagua before a vocal home crowd.
The first two games played very evenly with numerous rallies and lead changes, and the evening looked to go down to the wire.
But No. 4 Sahuarita (32-5) found its touch to take the final two games with relative ease.
"The first two games we weren't sure how they played, and a lot of us are young and haven't been to state, so we were anxious," said Sahuarita senior Liz Lopez. "But then we realized, why don't we just show them how Sahuarita plays? And we did."
Sahuarita opened an 11-point lead early in the fourth game.
"We have consistently this year started slow and built, and that is a very, very dangerous thing to do at this time of year," said Sahuarita coach Dan Komperda.
Sahuarita will play Scottsdale Notre Dame Prep in the semifinals at 9 a.m. Saturday at Gilbert Perry.
