wire reports
Tucson, Arizona | Published: 04.20.2007
The late Joe Glenn, a native of Douglas, will be inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs, Colo., this summer along with eight others.
For nearly 25 years, Glenn was among the sport's elite team ropers. He won his first world title in 1948 and qualified for the National Finals Rodeo seven times, including his last in 1970 at the age of 56.
At the inaugural National Finals Rodeo in 1959, Glenn finished the season in second place, a mere $64 behind world champion Jim Rodriguez Jr.
Glenn, who won his second gold buckle in 1967, died in 1984 at the age of 70.
The nine members of the 2007 class will be inducted July 14 in Colorado Springs.

Vitaminwater offers to pay fine
Vitaminwater offered to pay a record $100,000 fine levied by the NFL against Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher for wearing a cap featuring its logo during a Super Bowl press event, the company president said in an interview.
Mike Repole, president of Whitestone, N.Y.-based Glaceau, the maker of Vitaminwater, said he "feels terrible" that the NFL fined Urlacher.
Urlacher declined the offer, Repole said. Vitaminwater will instead match the fine with a $100,000 donation to the United Way, he said.
Players attending league events are required to wear apparel authorized by the NFL, said Brian McCarthy, a league spokesman. PepsiCo Inc.'s Gatorade is the NFL's drink sponsor.

Santa Anita in Arcadia will replace its dirt track with a synthetic surface this summer.
It will be the fourth time Santa Anita has hosted the event, having done so in 1986, 1993 and 2003. The Breeders' Cup made its debut in 1984 at Hollywood Park.
