The Arizona Wildcats’ Dec. 6 rivalry game against Arizona State finally has a start time: 6 p.m
ESPN officials picked up the game this morning and set the start time for its national telecast. The game will be shown either on ESPN or ESPN2; the network must determine which platform will carry the game by Dec. 1.
In an odd twist, Fox Sports Arizona will also show the game live throughout the state, using its own crew. FS Arizona has nonexclusive rights to the “Duel in the Desert” through its contract with the Pac-10 Conference. Fox will carry the game despite ESPN’s involvement.
Arizona (6-4, 4-3) has already secured a berth in its first bowl game since 1998. Arizona State (4-6, 3-4) must defeat UCLA on Nov. 29 in Tempe and then upset the Wildcats in a rivalry game to make the postseason.
Arizona is 44-36-1 against its in-state rival since 1899, though Arizona State has won the last three matchups.
