No. 9 Florida (4-1) at No. 1 LSU (5-0)
5 p.m., Channel 13
• FAVORITE: LSU by 7
• STAT THAT MATTERS: Tigers have won 16 straight home games by average score of 37-10.
• GAME FACTS: Considering the Gators, now tied for second in SEC East, have already played 25 freshmen, upset loss to Auburn shouldn't be so surprising. Sophomore QB Tim Tebow (third in nation in QB efficiency, 85 of 122, 1,297 passing, 11 TDs, 2 INTs) continues to impress and nearly led Gators' comeback in fourth quarter last week with TD pass, TD run (his 8th of season). With 5-14 mark vs. UF since 1988, Tigers have struggled mightily with Gators — though they have beaten them three of last five. Last year's loss was particularly frustrating considering LSU had more first downs (22-14) and total yards (318-288) but was done in by five turnovers. Wicked defense (leads nation in total defense, second in scoring, 15 turnovers forced) is led by DT Glenn Dorsey (3 sacks) S Danny McCray (2 INTs, 3 sacks) and LB Ali Highsmith (33 tackles).
No. 10 Oklahoma (4-1) vs. No. 19 Texas (4-1)
12:30 p.m., Channel 9
• FAVORITE: Oklahoma by 12 1/2
• STAT THAT MATTERS: After dropping five straight to Sooners from 2000-04, Longhorns have won last two by combined score of 73-25.
• GAME FACTS: Sooners ugly collapse from 24-10 lead in fourth quarter last week may have lingering effects for annual Red River Rivalry at Cotton Bowl. Offense managed only 12 first downs, 230 total yards (1 of 9 on third-down conversions) as QB Sam Bradford (8 of 19, 112 passing, 1 TD, 2 INTs) finally played like a freshman. S Reggie Smith's fumbled punt set up tying TD with four minutes left. In worst home loss ever under coach Mack Brown last week, Longhorns QB Colt McCoy was battered again (4 INTs) but should play despite leaving game with concussion and later vomiting on sidelines. It was third time he's been knocked out of game dating back to last November. Texas RB Jamaal Charles (543 rushing, 5.3 per carry, 7 TDs) has scored TD in nine straight games dating back to last year.
No. 25 Nebraska (4-1) at No. 17 Missouri (4-0)
6:15 p.m., ESPN
• FAVORITE: Missouri by 6
• STAT THAT MATTERS: Tigers have beaten Cornhuskers last two times in Columbia — the same total of MU wins vs. Nebraska from 1975-2002.
• GAME FACTS: Though there's a long way to go, this is a sizable game for Big 12 North supremacy. NU has had trouble on Big 12 road lately (7-10 since late 2002). After getting trampled for 89 points and staggering 1,067 yards by USC and Ball State, Cornhuskers' defense (92nd in nation vs. run, 189.6 ypg) played better last week (3 sacks, 4 turnovers). QB Sam Keller (47 of 65, 657 passing, 5 TDs, 2 INTs in last two wins) has been on target lately. Tigers rely on elusive QB Chase Daniel (5th in nation with 1,427 total offense, 13 TD passes, 4 INTs, TD run) to make plays with WRs Martin Rucker, Jeremy Maclin and William Franklin (combined 67 catches, 8 TDs) as downfield targets. Even though Tigers really haven't played anybody, defense (93rd in nation in total defense, 434.5 ypg) has given up too many yards.
Notre Dame (0-5) at UCLA (4-1)
5 p.m., Channel 9
• FAVORITE: UCLA by 22
• STAT THAT MATTERS: In losing last seven games dating back to last November, Fighting Irish have been outscored 241-84.
• GAME FACTS: Off to worst start ever, ND hasn't won since beating Army, 41-9, last Nov. 18. Losing skid overall is longest since Irish lost eight straight in 1960. Last week's loss was closest ND has come during horrible run. Down 26-6 in final quarter, backup QB Evan Sharpley came off bench to throw pair of TD passes. Sharpley might start if freshman QB Jimmy Clausen's hip injury doesn't get better. Bruins want revenge for last year when Brady Quinn's 45-yard TD pass to Jeff Samardzija with 35 seconds left beat them. Bruins front seven had dominated then-potent Irish offense by forcing 5 sacks and holding ND to 28 yards rushing. Since shocking 44-6 loss at Utah on Sept. 15, UCLA has blown past Washington, Oregon State by combined 84-45 including 68-21 margin in second half.
