Kelsey Thorson
Senior, Catalina Foothills, guard
On being a lefty when playing basketball: "People don't expect it. It's really unique so I get to do my own thing. I am ambidextrous, but basketball is one thing where I am strong with my left hand."
On how she got started playing: "I have been playing basketball since I was in third grade. I used to play other sports as well but I really enjoyed basketball and that is what stuck with me through middle school and high school."
On next year's plans: "I have applied to some schools in Colorado and Arizona. I have always been strong in math and science so I am looking at something in either engineering or business."
Aaron Anderson
Senior, Mountain View, forward
On being a two-sport athlete (also plays baseball): "It helps me to keep up with my studies since I am constantly busy. It has really taught me about responsibility."
On his favorite baseball and basketball players: "I am an Arizona guy and I like all the Arizona teams. As far as individual players, Amare Stoudemire is my favorite. He is an all-around force that can do anything with his quickness and strength. Ken Griffey Jr. has always been one of my idols. He is a very classy player and he is fun to watch."
On his favorite class in high school: "Communications. It teaches you about how to act in the real world and has also helped me a lot with developing a résumé."
Matthew Nash
Senior, Nogales, center
On playing for two different schools in his high school career (went to Salpointe last year, Nogales two years before that): "It's been a good experience for me. Last year I was on a pretty good team, so that will help me this year since I know what we need to do. I hope to carry the winning mentality over."
On a college visit: "I went to Oberlin College in Ohio. It was really cool since I got to go to classes and see what the college basketball experience was like."
On what basketball big men he looks up to: "I really like Bill Walton and Kevin Love. Their ability as big men to pass the ball is something I can really relate with, and they are also very fundamentally sound."
