Wildcat women down UCLA in swimmingStaff and wire reports

The Arizona Wildcat women bounced back from their first dual meet loss in a year by trouncing UCLA 157-121 Saturday in a Pac-10 swimming meet in Los Angeles.
The Wildcats lost to USC in their opening meet Friday.
Ana Agy and Alyssa Anderson won two events each for the defending national champion Wildcats.
Agy was first in the 100-yard butterfly in 55.03 seconds and the 200 freestyle in 2 minutes 0.74 seconds.
Anderson won the 200 freestyle in 1:48.52 and the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:00.33.
The Wildcats won 11 of 15 events and swam the final relay as an exhibition.
The Wildcat men, who lost a dual meet to USC on Friday, swam against the Trojans again Saturday, but the meet wasn't scored. UCLA does not have a men's team.
The UA will host the Arizona Diving Invitational on Friday and Saturday, and swimmers and divers will go to the Texas Invitational in Austin, Texas, Dec. 4-6.
BASEBALL
Toros plan to name manager this month
Tucson Toros owner Jay Zucker said the independent baseball team expects to name a manager around Thanksgiving. He said he has an "impressive list" of candidates but declined to reveal names.
Former players Ed Vosberg, Jason Jacome and Carlo Colombino are candidates for coaching positions with the team. All three signed autographs for fans at the team's open house Saturday at Hi Corbett Field.
Vosberg, a Tucson native and former Arizona Wildcat and Tucson Sidewinder, pitched in the majors for 10 years. Jacome pitched in the big leagues for five years and with the Sidewinders in 2001. Colombino was a third baseman with the Toros from 1989-91.

Women's team wins in Texas tourney
The Pima College women evened their record at 1-1 in the young basketball season with an 80-48 victory over the host team in the Western Texas College Classic Saturday in Snyder, Texas.
Freshman Abyee Maracigian (Flowing Wells) led the Aztecs with 20 points and fellow freshman Adilene Villalobos (Sunnyside) had 16.
Pima opens conference play Wednesday at home against Cochise College.
● Sophomore Shannon Doctor (Buena) had 29 points as the Pima men routed the Tierra del Sol Basketball Club 122-69 Saturday at Pima.
● Pima's football team closed out its season with a 42-17 loss at Scottsdale. The Aztecs finished 0-10, 0-8 in the ACCAC.

Wildcats top ASU in nonconference game
Peter Tiberio scored two of Arizona's five tries as the Wildcats topped Arizona State 42-20 in a nonconference rugby game in Tempe Saturday.
The Wildcats are now 2-1.

Davydenko, Djokovic gain Masters final
SHANGHAI, China — Nikolay Davydenko reached the Masters Cup final with a 7-5, 6-2 victory Saturday over Andy Murray.
Davydenko will meet Novak Djokovic, who earlier rallied to oust France's Gilles Simon 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.

Canadians sweep Trophee Bompard
PARIS — Teenager Patrick Chan won his second Grand Prix title and Joannie Rochette held off defending champion Mao Asada to give Canada a double victory Saturday at the Trophee Bompard.
The 17-year-old Chan placed first in the free skate to finish ahead of Takahiko Kozuka and Alban Preaubert.

Heavyweight debut a breeze for Haye
LONDON — Former undisputed world cruiserweight champion David Haye made an easy jump from cruiserweight to heavyweight Saturday night, flooring Monte Barrett five times in five rounds.
