TORONTO — Maple Leafs left wing Ryan Hollweg received an automatic two-game suspension Monday after collecting his third boarding or checking from behind major in a 41-game span.
The third penalty came in Wednesday's 7-3 preseason loss at St. Louis, when Hollweg was assessed a boarding major and a game misconduct.
Last season with the Rangers, Hollweg received checking from behind majors and game misconducts on Jan. 5 against Edmonton and Feb. 3 against Montreal.
Hollweg will miss Toronto's season opener Thursday at Detroit and Saturday's home opener against Montreal.
Canucks, Lightning make 4-player trade
VANCOUVER, British Columbia — The Canucks traded defenseman Lukas Krajicek and minor-league forward Juraj Simek to the Lightning on Monday for defenseman Shane O'Brien and right wing Michel Ouellet.
Ouellet, who has 54 goals in 187 NHL games with Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay, will be sent to Vancouver's farm team in Manitoba. O'Brien has 37 points and 330 penalty minutes in 158 games.
Krajicek missed most of last season with a shoulder injury. Simek was the Canucks' sixth-round pick in 2006.
Islanders' Lee leaves game on stretcher
SUNRISE, Fla. — Tomas Vokoun made 29 saves, and Jay Bouwmeester had a goal and two assists in the Panthers' 6-0 win over the Islanders on Monday night, the final NHL preseason game.
Islanders defenseman Chris Lee was carried off the ice on a stretcher in the third period. He was injured when he was checked into the boards from behind by Rostislav Olesz. Lee, who has never played in an NHL game, stayed on the ice for several minutes after being hit at 11:02 of the third period.
A team spokesman said Lee, 28, had movement, was conscious and taken to a hospital. Olesz was assessed a 5-minute major and a game misconduct on the play.

● Hurricanes forward Scott Walker is expected to be sidelined for six weeks after surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left hand. The surgery came four days before Carolina opens the regular season against Florida.
The Hurricanes already will be without forward Justin Williams for at least three more months after he tore his right Achilles' tendon.
● The Blue Jackets assigned goaltender Dan LaCosta to their American Hockey League affiliate and released defenseman Richard Matvichuk from his tryout contract on Monday.
Matvichuk, 35, played for Columbus coach Ken Hitchcock with the Stars when they won the Stanley Cup in 1999. With 14 years and almost 800 games in the NHL, he was making $96 a day in training-camp pay to try to make the team after being out of the league last year.
