favre gets off to winning start
• Brett Favre threw two touchdowns, one a 56-yard bomb to Jerricho Cotchery on New York's second series of the game as the Jets held off a late charge from Miami to win 20-14. Favre was 15 for 22 for 194 yards and no interceptions in his debut for New York.
"It was shaky, but it's a good start," said Favre, who got his 161st win against a Dolphins team starting former Jets quarterback Chad Pennington. "It's a win, and you can never question a win."
