Final 4 chosen for Ryder Cup
NEW YORK — Paul Azinger completed his American team Tuesday with captain's picks, adding Chad Campbell, Steve Stricker, Hunter Mahan and Kentucky native J.B. Holmes to a team that will have six Ryder Cup rookies and no Tiger Woods.
The eight players who qualified were Phil Mickelson, Stewart Cink, Kenny Perry, Jim Furyk, Anthony Kim, Justin Leonard, Ben Curtis and Boo Weekley.
The United States has not won the Ryder Cup since 1999, when Leonard holed a 45-foot birdie putt at The Country Club in Brookline, Mass., to complete the biggest comeback in history. Europe has won the cup eight of the last 11 times dating to 1985, and Azinger thinks this European squad is the strongest ever.
● Former UA golfer Lorena Ochoa of Mexico says a new LPGA Tour policy requiring players to be effective in English starting in 2009 is a "little drastic."
Ochoa, the No. 1 player in women's golf, says golfers are better judged by their performance.
She was asked if she thought the new policy discriminated against international players.
"That is a a very strong word. I wouldn't want to use it," said Ochoa, who speaks English. "But I do think it is a little drastic."

Franchitti returning to IndyCar
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Dario Franchitti will return to IndyCar in 2009 as the replacement driver for Dan Wheldon at Chip Ganassi Racing, Ganassi announced Tuesday.
Franchitti won the 2007 IndyCar Series championship and the Indianapolis 500 but left open wheel for NASCAR to drive Ganassi's No. 40 Dodge in the Sprint Cup Series. Ganassi never secured sponsorship for that team and was forced to shutter it in July.
