Senior quarterback Daniel McIver is hard to miss on the Catalina High School sports scene.
You might have caught him on the gridiron, or in his best track and field event — the high jump — or as the Trojans' point guard.
The triple threat spent the summer traveling with his club basketball team, the Arizona Pump N Run. But he's now focused on football.
• On getting in the game: "Before games, I don't like to be bugged or bothered. I like to just zone everything out and prepare myself, think about what my job is that game and my priorities, what to do to help the team out."
• On his football rival: "Santa Rita, because they have a great receiver, JJ Holliday. I'm looking to take him on and see what he can do this year."
• On playing club basketball: "(It's) different than high school, very fast. You play the top athletes in the country, go to Vegas, go to L.A. (Vegas was) good. It's different, wild. You see a little bit of everything, crazy stuff. I just got back from L.A."
• On his favorite band: "I like the Gym Class Heroes. I like their style of how they talk about high school and stuff you can relate to. Funny stuff, like having hot teachers."
