Jennings to sign multiyear contract in ItalyArizona Daily Star

After bypassing the Arizona Wildcats, Brandon Jennings will do as the Romans do.
Jennings, a former UA recruit, said Wednesday he plans to play for a Roman basketball team next season, Pallacanestro Virtus Roma.
Jennings will sign a multiyear deal but automatically will be eligible for the 2009 NBA draft as a 19-year-old one year removed from high school. If he is drafted, an NBA team could buy out his contract from the Roman club.
Family friend Kelly Williams said Wednesday the deal is "less than seven figures" per year.
Eight days ago, Jennings — who had been waiting for his results from his third SAT attempt — announced he would become the first prominent American basketball recruit to play professionally overseas instead of in the NCAA.
Jennings' business adviser, Sonny Vaccaro, met with European teams this week in Las Vegas.
"I'm ready to go. I can't believe this happened so fast," Jennings said in a statement.
He will be introduced to the Roman media on Wednesday and has already hired an Italian attorney.
Pallacanestro Virtus Roma will offer Jennings media training and tutoring options.
Jennings' mother will move to Rome, as will his little brother, who will play for a junior club basketball team there.
