Junior college guard Ipek Turkyilmaz signed with the Arizona Wildcats women's basketball team, becoming coach Niya Butts' first commitment at the UA.
The native of Izmir, Turkey, averaged 12.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists in two seasons at Barton County (Kan.) College. She shot 40.4 percent from three-point range while playing for coach Chance Lindley, who is now an assistant at Arizona.
"She is an excellent shooter from the outside and will be a great addition to our roster as a scoring threat from three-point range," Butts said in a statement.
Arizona has seven players signed for next season, six who committed under previous coach Joan Bonvicini. Guards Reiko Thomas of Harbor City, Calif., and Ashley Frazier of South Plains (Texas) College signed after Butts was hired.

Boldin, Dockett skip workout
TEMPE — Receiver Anquan Boldin and defensive end Darnell Dockett picked a good time to skip the Arizona Cardinals' voluntary workouts.
The temperature approached 90 degrees as winds gusted on the team's practice fields on Wednesday.
"I'd prefer that they'd be here, but these workouts are voluntary," said coach Ken Whisenhunt.
