Porter receives letter of reprimand
A letter of reprimand has been posted in Arizona Wildcats team physician Don Porter's profile on the Arizona Medical Board's Web site.
Porter had until Thursday to appeal the letter, which is the lowest form of discipline to appear on a doctor's public record.
The board voted 4-2 at its Feb. 7 meeting to issue the letter of reprimand to Porter for failing to consider and pursue a diagnosis of a lung blood clot and failing to perform an adequate exam on UA basketball player Shawntinice Polk, who died Sept. 26, 2005, when a blood clot traveled from her leg to her lung.
If Porter had appealed, a motion for a rehearing or review would appear on the agenda for the board's meeting in June.
