Imagine you're in Katmandu, Nepal, and wander into a shop brimming with treasures of the region — from dazzling jewelry and handmade clothing to flutes, ornate prayer wheels and colorful Buddhist paintings.
Can't afford airfare to Nepal?
An alternative is to visit a new Fourth Avenue shop called Everest Souvenirs.
Opened last year by Tank Ojha, a native of Nepal who is a research scientist at the University of Arizona, the small shop is brimming with art, artifacts and attire from the nation in the Himalayan Mountains.
Ojha — who operates Everest Souvenirs with his son, Luju, and other family members — says items in the shop are made by Nepalese people who benefit from sales of their goods here.
Glance around this page for a sampling of Everest offerings. Drop by the shop, at 739 N. Fourth Ave., for a look at the full inventory.
