Need some new ornaments for tree?

Some of us have more Christmas ornaments than we know what to do with. But every now and then it's still nice to add something new to the mix. If you'd like a fresh way to deck the boughs, we offer the accompanying suggestions:
Philabaum Glass Gallery
The name Philabaum brings to mind gorgeous glass sculptures that beautifully decorate homes. The same principles apply to blown-glass ornaments ($24 and up). The round bits shimmer and shift color as they move. Place next to a bright strand of lights for reflection.
Buy them at the gallery, 4280 N. Campbell Ave., in the St. Philip's Plaza, or at the studio, 711 S. Sixth Ave., Downtown.
The gallery is open 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sundays. The studio is open 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturdays. 299-1939.
'Tis the Season
This little store, 3050 E. Broadway, is a blast of Christmas spirit. With its cheerful owner Donna Jones and hundreds of sparkling holiday figurines and decorations, you'd have to be a Scrooge not to catch some.
She has a wide array of ornaments, costing from $2.99 to $36, including Fitz & Floyd.
The shop is open 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays. 326-6646.
Barb's Christmas Etc.
If you're not sure what you're looking for or you'd like to buy in bulk, Barb's Christmas Etc. is a good bet because it's all ornaments. Owner Barb Shepherd estimates that she has around 30,000.
She has handblown, hand-painted glass from Germany, Italy and Poland, along with sillier pieces like the Sweet Stuff line, which are snowmen in singles and doubles that look like candy.
Store hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays and 11 a.m. -3 p.m. Sundays. It's located at 6538 E. Tanque Verde Road, near Pima Street and Kolb Road, in La Plaza Shoppes. Prices range from $2 to $48. 885-3755.
Chris Bubany
Chris Bubany has been an artist in Tucson for years and is known even outside artists' circles. She practices many types of art, including making Christmas ornaments.
Her pieces are available at various shops across town, including 'Tis the Season and the Tucson Museum of Art. They cost about $35. 749-4602.
Tucson Museum of Art
The museum offers designs by several local artists, including hand-painted gourd ornaments by Judy Doan, above, and Margot Huntington and floral, glass ones by Lisa Lieber. You'll also find handcrafted pieces in the tradition of Polish glass ornaments but designed by Tucson artists, and porcelain ornaments by Janet Burner, to name a few options.
The gift shop is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Saturdays and noon-4 p.m. Sundays. Prices range from about $15 to $40 for the handmade pieces. 624-2333, Ext. 117.
