Story prompts suit
Ashley Olsen is suing The National Enquirer and its publisher, American Media, for this week's cover story claiming she was "caught in drug scandal."
The article cited court papers in which litigious former Morgan Stanley analyst Christian Curry alleged that Olsen's boyfriend, Scott Sartiano, had offered cocaine and Ecstasy to potential witnesses to testify against Curry in a personal injury lawsuit.
Olsen's lawyers say the story made readers think she was under the influence of drugs, reports "Access Hollywood."
Enquirer spokesman Stu Zakim said the tab stands by its story and "we will vigorously defend against a lawsuit."
They split, they party
Brad Pitt and
Jennifer Aniston continue to confound. We told you that the couple, who announced they were splitting, were still living together. Last weekend, Brad threw his missus a 36th-birthday bash at their Beverly Hills mansion. Among the reported guests were
Gwen Stefani,
Mel Gibson and
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Liza called a 'crack baby'
The other day,
Carol Channing and
Kitty Carlisle Hart met in D.C. for a Kennedy Center panel on the musical legacy of the 1940s.
Recalling those rollicking days, Hart, 94, told moderator Dick Cavett how Liza Minnelli's mother, Judy Garland, once swiped sleeping pills during a party.
Chiming in, Channing, 84, called Liza "a crack baby."
"(Channing) meant 'crack baby' as a joke," Cavett told us.
