The auditorium at Catalina Foothills High School last week was filled with chameleons, leopards and a shipwrecked man named Robinson Crusoe.
The Missoula Children's Theatre group was in town putting together the play "Robinson Crusoe" for students from all over Tucson, most from the Catalina Foothills School District.
The company supplies everything to put on the show, including scripts, costumes and the set, said Mary Glenn Hoge, Catalina Foothills Community Schools program director.
Auditions were held March 24 and on the same day those chosen had their first rehearsal to get ready for the show, which was held Saturday.
All of the 50 students, from kindergartners to 12th-graders, participated on stage, Hoge said.
"The kindergarten kids are doing their thing, too," she said. "They're chameleons."
The week was busy for the students, involving two rehearsals a day every day before the show.
"It's crazy and exciting," Hoge said. "It's a long day; it's actually a long week. But it's well worth it."
