The Catalina Foothills School District Foundation held a gala Friday night to raise money and honor a teacher.
The ninth annual Love Our Schools winter fundraiser honored the foundation's first teacher of the year, David Mason, a social-studies instructor at Catalina Foothills High School.
"It's not something that I've achieved all by myself. I've got a lot of people to thank," said Mason, a nine-year veteran of Foothills High.
Of the fundraising event, he said, "Ultimately it impacts the students in a positive way."
The gala raised more than $90,000, according to Kim Kimbriel, the foundation's president.
"It helps make up the gap from what the state provides and what we need to excel," she said..
Joanie Jarvis was among the nearly 300 people who attended the event.
"It's a great way for people to raise money for a great cause," she said.
