While everyone is invited to come to the Arizona Daily Star Battle of the Bands 8 p.m. Feb. 10 at the Rialto Theatre, 318 E. Congress St., only six people will determine who wins.
Meet this year's battle judges:
Don Jennings knows his Tucson music. He's hosted KXCI's (91.3-FM) "Locals Only," (8-10 p.m. Mondays) for seven years. He is offering a spot on his show to the winning band.
Leila Lopez is a native Tucsonan and a musician who plays six instruments and records and produces all of her jazzy folk albums at home.
Britton Dornquast opened Hear's Music, 2508 N. Campbell Ave., more than 14 years ago to provide a place for the music genres that are typically least-represented in other stores.
Jake Bergeron is the drummer for the Sweat Band, a local rock 'n' roll band that won the 2005 Tammie for Best New Band or Artist.
Amy Rude, a singer/songwriter who is writing her master's-in-education thesis on girls in music, is in the process of creating a rock program for girls in Tucson.
Travis Michalak is the guitarist/backing vocalist for pop-rock trio Japanesian Barbie, which won last year's Arizona Daily Star Battle of the Bands. The band will open the show, and then Michalak will help judge this year's finalists.
