Douglas' Jorge Ramos scored with eight seconds remaining in the 4A-II Gila Regional championship game Thursday night and the Bulldogs stunned Rio Rico 2-1.
The game was played at Desert View.
After Rio Rico's first-half goal by Jose Vega, the game was scoreless for 68 minutes.
The Bulldogs could have scored early in the second half, but Tony Lopez's penalty kick was stopped by Hawks goalkeeper Alan Regalado.
A.J. Manjares finally put one of the Bulldogs' 11 second- half shots into the net with a header in the 76th minute.
Ramos' goal came shortly thereafter and earned the team the region's No. 1 seed in the state tournament.
"I think we outplayed them, especially in the second half," Douglas coach Ken Cormier said. "It was just a matter of getting that first goal. Then the momentum switched."

● Mountain View 2, Sierra Vista Buena 1: At Salpointe Catholic, the teams were tied at 1 after regulation and two overtimes, but Mountain View prevailed 6-5 in penalty kicks in the regional semifinal match.
The win puts the Mountain Lions in today's championship game against tournament host Salpointe at 6 p.m.
Mountain View coach Mike Corbus, accustomed to defensive-minded games between the Lions and Buena, was not surprised that it took penalty kicks to decide the outcome.
"I think every game we have played in the last couple of years has been a one-goal game," Corbus said. "It's a tough matchup for us because we play similar styles."
