While the national news is abuzz with Gov. Janet Napolitano's possible selection as Homeland Security secretary, here at home the governor is downplaying those reports.
At a meeting Thursday, the Democratic governor told her staff to ignore what is being said on the news and keep working like nothing is changing, her press aide said.
Although there has been no official word from President-elect Barack Obama, the possibility of Napolitano joining his administration has been discussed for months.
What Obama has said is Napolitano is "a singular talent" who has dealt with difficult issues in "a common-sense way" and has "the kind of tone and temperament I'd want to see in my government."
