Oro Valley water rates likely to riseTucson, Arizona | Published: 09.25.2008
The Oro Valley Town Council last week approved a notice of intent that paves the way for increases in water rates.
A study session on the proposed rates is scheduled for Oct. 8 at 5:30 p.m. in Town Hall, 11000 N. La Cañada Drive.
The council will hold a public hearing during its Nov. 5 regular 6 p.m. session, when it will consider adopting new rates that could include water conservation fees.
Staff is recommending keeping a four-tier structure and no more than a five-tier structure, said Water Utility Director Philip Saletta.
Customers would pay according to how much water they use, a town report states.
The average residential customer uses about 9,000 gallons of water each month.
Here's a comparison of existing rates and proposed tiered rates for a standard 5/8-inch meter, single-family house.
