Question: Was the National Hockey League player who was responsible for the death of a teammate in a high-speed wreck several years ago ever punished?
Answer: Former Atlanta Thrasher Dany Heatley pleaded guilty to misdemeanor vehicular homicide in the Sept. 29, 2003, death of teammate and passenger Dan Snyder. Heatley, who now plays for the Ottawa Senators, received a sentence of three years probation, 750 hours of community service, a $3,000 fine and $25,000 in restitution.
Heatley was driving his Ferrari on an Atlanta street when he lost control and slammed into a brick pillar and iron fence outside a condominium. Police reported he was driving 84 mph in a 35 mph zone.
Snyder, who was thrown 30 feet from the car, died Oct. 5.
Snyder's parents appealed to local prosecutors, insisting Heatley not get jail time for their son's death. First-degree vehicular homicide charges were dropped, allowing Heatley to plead guilty and avoid serving any time.
Question: Ford ads say its F-series trucks have been the industry sales leaders for many years. Would this still be true if GMC sales were combined with Chevy sales?
Answer: The best-selling light truck in the United States is the Ford F series, which has also been the top seller among all vehicles for the past 25 years. Automotive News reports 796,039 F series sales in 2006.
But your suspicion is correct. Chevrolet sold 636,069 Silverado trucks, and the GMC Sierra accounted for 210,736 sales. That totals 846,805, more than Ford.
