MARANA
1 Criminal damage was reported at 4:18 p.m. Dec. 27 at Big Sky Autobody, 6108 N. Travel Center Drive. A police officer noticed red graffiti on the front doors of the building and on a nearby wall.
2 Larceny was reported at 9:14 p.m. Dec. 26 at Quality Lube & Tune, 3631 W. Ina Road. A woman told police the following: She dropped her car off for an oil change on Dec. 23. She left two iPods inside the car and one was missing when she picked it up. The shop manager told her they searched the employees' lockers and did not find the iPod.
3 Mail theft was reported at 3:20 p.m. Dec. 26 in the 5100 block of West Heritage Gateway Place. A resident told police someone opened his mail and showed the officer a ripped envelope that was in his mailbox. He said the envelope was from his son and contained a flash drive with 300 family photographs.
4 Larceny was reported at 2:40 p.m. Dec. 23 in the 7700 block of West August Moon Place. A woman told police the following: She moved in October 2007 and called Waste Management about their green garbage can. She was told to put the can at the curb and the company would pick it up within five days. Last October, the company began billing her for the garbage can. She talked to several company employees to straighten out the matter but was told she had to pay $85 for the missing can. Police advised her to talk to the Better Business Bureau.
PIMA COUNTY
5 A dirt bike valued at $1,500 was reported stolen at 10:58 a.m. Dec. 28 in the 4000 block of West Orangewood Drive. The owner told deputies someone stole the bike from the back of his truck. He said a gear bag containing clothing and equipment with a total value of more than $1,400 was also taken.
6Vandalism was reported at 3:15 p.m. Dec. 27 in the 9100 block of North Wild Eagle Avenue. A resident told deputies someone spray-painted graffiti on the wall and the sidewalk across the street from her house. She said she suspects a group of teenage boys who do not live in the neighborhood are responsible for the damage.
7 A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a dangerous drug at 4:15 p.m. Dec. 26 at Foothills Mall, 7401 N. La Cholla Blvd. A security guard said someone told him the man was smoking a pipe in the men's restroom at Barnes & Noble. The man allowed deputies to search him. A plastic bag containing heroin, a piece of aluminum foil and a straw were found in the man's pockets. He was also charged with suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and booked into Pima County jail.
8 A man was cited on suspicion of possession of marijuana at 10:50 a.m. Dec. 26 after a traffic stop for expired registration near West Ina Road and North Camino de la Tierra. The deputy saw a handgun by the driver's left hand side and confiscated it. The man said the car smelled like marijuana because two of his friends left partially smoked marijuana cigarettes in his ashtray. Deputies confiscated the marijuana and a small metal device used for crushing marijuana. He was also cited on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and released. Deputies unloaded the man's gun and gave it back to him.
ORO VALLEY
9 Harassment was reported at 2:36 p.m. Dec. 29 in the 11100 block of North Desert Flower Drive. A resident told police a man called her 10 times between 12:30 and 2:45 p.m. She said he asked her every time if she would sell him her children and wanted to know how much. She told police she was scared and did not know what to do. The police officer told her how to retrieve the phone number of the caller, advised her to make a record of the calls and then contact police with the information.
10 An 18-year-old man was cited on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia at 8:37 p.m. Dec. 26 near West Antelope Creek Way and North Copper Spring Trail after a traffic stop for a non-working license plate light. The officer noticed the smell of marijuana coming out of the car window. The man said the smell was from a friend who had smoked marijuana in his car earlier. Police searched the car and found a lunchbox containing several smoking pipes, several empty plastic bags, a wooden box and other miscellaneous items that had a strong odor of marijuana.
11Theft from a car was reported at 1:05 p.m. Dec. 24 in the 900 block of West Morning Thunder Court. A resident told police someone took two bank cards and three credit cards from her wallet that she left inside her car. She said a bag of Christmas gifts was also taken from the car. She said she called her banks and was informed that someone charged a total of $20,000 to her bank cards.
