The zoo celebrated the birthdays of its two polar bears, 9-year-old Boris and 8-year-old Kobe, by scattering toys, like rubber rings, and food, including strawberry birthday cake, throughout their enclosures. It was the kind of day when the bears got all kinds of unusual treats. "That kind of caloric intake, it only happens once a year or so," said Alisha Brewer, polar bear keeper.
