Pima County homeowners need to pay the first installment of their property taxes by Monday to avoid being delinquent.
Many homeowners pay their property taxes through their mortgage provider. If you are one of them, you don't have to do a thing.
But if you pay your own taxes, you have until 5 p.m. Monday to pay the first half of your bill. The second half is due March 1 and considered delinquent after May 1.
To pay by mail, send back the coupon from your tax bill and a check or money order to P.O. Box 29011, Phoenix, AZ 85038-0765. Checks should be made out to Beth Ford, Pima County Treasurer. Do not send cash. The payment must by postmarked no later than Nov. 3.
To pay in person, go Downtown in Tucson to the Treasurer's Office in the Old Pima County Courthouse, 115 N. Church Ave. The office is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Go to www.to.pima.gov to pay online. You cannot pay your taxes with a credit card, but you can schedule an electronic check payment.
If your tax bill is $100 or less, you must pay the full amount now.
If you don't pay your taxes on time, interest will start accruing at 16 percent a year, pro- rated monthly. But if you pay both installments of your tax bill before Dec. 31, the interest for November and December will be waived.
