Tucson Time Capsule : Lee Marvin helps animal rehab

Tucson, Arizona | Published: 10.23.2008
When Sarah Gorby needed a host for her wildlife center's fund-raiser, she called on Tucson resident Lee Marvin. On Oct. 23, 1983, she and the actor (a 1965 Oscar winner for "Cat Ballou") showed off some new residents, three young javelina whose mother had been killed by a car. The event to benefit the Sarah Gorby Wildlife Rehabilitation Fund was held at the Tucson Racquet Club. Gorby was the first person licensed by the Arizona Game and Fish Department to nurse wild animals back to health and release them or to provide for them if they could not be released.
