Voters beat sign-up deadline

Pima County registered an estimated 3,000 new voters Monday, the last day to sign up to participate in the Nov. 4 general election, voter registrar Chris Roads said.
They join 8,683 more new voters added to the rolls from Sept. 29 through Oct. 5, in a late rush be eligible to select the next president and fill a host of local, state and federal offices.
The total for Monday doesn't include those who signed up through the state Motor Vehicle Division Web site, and the exact number won't be tabulated until later this week.
But as of Monday morning, Pima County had:
