A check-cashing business manager accused of using customer information to create fraudulent loans has been arrested, police said Tuesday.
Amicia Moreno, 36, was taken into custody Friday in connection with the thefts at Checkmate, 538 W. Fry Boulevard, in Sierra Vista, according to a news release.
On Sept. 17, the district manager reported the thefts to Sierra Vista police, the release said.
Moreno admitted to stealing more than $23,000 from the business since April by processing fraudulent loans from existing customers' accounts and pocketed the cash, police said.
In addition to taking that money, Moreno is accused of taking $9,000 in cash from the business.
Moreno was booked into the Cochise County jail.
