SAHUARITA
1 A traffic hazard was reported at 6:44 p.m. Sept. 16 in the 0-100 block of West Camino Fuste. A resident reported that someone put a sign in the middle of the street. The sign reads "Slow, children at play." A resident who lives in a house near the sign admitted to police it belonged to her. She said her children play outside and residents speed down the street. Police told her she could put the sign by the side of the road but not in it. She was not cited.
2A suspicious person was reported at 2:20 p.m. Sept. 16 in the 14500 block of South Camino Vendaval. A resident told police the following: A man knocked on his front door at 1 p.m. and said he works for the FBI. The man asked the resident for information about one of his neighbors. The resident said he was suspicious because the man was not dressed appropriately and was driving a white sedan. He said the man knocked on other doors in the neighborhood after talking to him.
3Larceny was reported at 11:50 a.m. Sept. 15 at The Wet Spot Sports Bar, 1100 W. Beta St. An employee told police a pool cue ball had been stolen at 11:26 p.m. on Sept. 13. He said the bartender saw a man take the ball from the pool table and leave. A security camera recorded the theft. The employee gave police a copy of the surveillance tape.
4A car fire was reported at 2:43 p.m. Sept. 12 near South Nogales Highway and East Pima Mine Road. A police officer saw a 2007 Ford Mustang engulfed in flames. The owner told police the following: He purchased gasoline at a convenience store and placed it inside a container. He put the container in the trunk. He pulled over on the way home because he smelled gasoline. He checked the trunk and gasoline had spilled out of the container. He grabbed several rags and tried to wipe up the mess. The gasoline caught fire and he ran from the car. Rural/Metro Fire Department extinguished the fire. The car was towed away.
EAST SIDE
5Vandalism was reported at 9:51 a.m. Sept. 8 in the 6100 block of South Old Spanish Trail. A resident told deputies her mailbox had been smashed. She said she believes someone hit her mailbox with a bat. She told deputies it would cost between $50 and $100 to replace the box.
VAIL/CORONA DE TUCSON
6A 1985 Toyota truck was reported stolen at 6:17 a.m. Sept. 6 in the 12700 block of East Red Iron Trail. The owner said a toolbox, several tools and a compact disc player were in the truck.
7Theft was reported at 12:53 p.m. Sept. 5 in the 0-100 block of West James Wade Place. A woman said her landlord evicted her from the house on Aug. 27 and changed the locks. She told deputies she has since paid the back rent and is living at the house. She said several items were missing when she and her children came back to the house on Sept. 4. An iPod, a clarinet, a Nintendo DS, several alarm clocks, two DVD players, 300 DVDs and a cell phone were among the missing items.
8Malicious mischief was reported at 6:34 p.m. Sept. 4 in the 10600 block of South Kush Canyon Lane. A resident told deputies the following: Her electric and telephone box were knocked down. Several wires were exposed. She called Qwest and Tucson Electric Power Co. Both companies were sending employees out to fix the damage. There were fresh tire marks in the dirt next to the electric box and the resident said she believes someone driving an ATV hit the box.
