The audience gets its chance to sing along with the Arizona Symphonic Winds when the volunteer ensemble closes its 2008 fall parks series tonight.
Tucson Symphony Orchestra principal clarinetist Jeremy Reynolds will guest with the group at Udall Park, 7290 E. Tanque Verde Road, beginning at 7 p.m. The program is filled with classic hits from the winds repertoire. Conductor and Music Director László Veres will be behind the podium.
On Sunday, Veres changes hats to lead his professional Tucson Pops Orchestra in its next-to-last fall parks concert. Popular Tucson vocalist Armen Dirtadian will guest with the orchestra in a program that includes Brahms' Hungarian Dances No. 5 and 6, works by Offenbach and Bellini, and Great American Songbook gems by Cole Porter and Richard Rodgers.
The concert is at 7 p.m. at the DeMeester Outdoor Performance Center in Reid Park.
Admission to both concerts is free.
The Pops wraps up its 2008 parks series Oct. 5 with guest vocalist Robert Shaw, best known to Tucson audiences for his dead-on Elvis Presley tribute concerts at the Gaslight Theatre. The program includes Rossini's Overture to "William Tell," Copland's Variations on a Shaker Melody and several Elvis hits.
