Dr. Armand Hammer was in Tucson for a gathering of cancer experts when he held a brief session with the media Sept. 19, 1988. He believed we were close to seeing cancer wiped off the Earth. "If we can put a man on the moon, we can find a cure for cancer," Hammer said.
