Chalk up another hot, wet summer for Tucson.

The three-month period from June through August tied for the 16th-warmest and was the 40th-wettest summer on record.

This was the ninth straight summer of above-normal average temperatures and marks the third time in recorded history, since 1895, that Tucson marked four straight summers with 5 inches of rain or more.

The months June through August had an average temperature of 86 degrees, 0.8 of a degree above normal and tied with three other summers as the 16th-warmest summer on record. June also had above-normal temperatures, while July was cooler than normal. But with 44 days of 100 degrees or higher, that was two days below the summer norm.

The summer rainfall was 5.28 inches, 0.67 of an inch above normal. It marks the third time in recorded Tucson history, since 1895, that this area has had four straight summers with at least 5 inches of rainfall. The other two periods were 1983-86 and 1907-10.
