1 Vandalism was reported at 2:05 p.m. Aug. 5 in the 6100 block of North Via Tres Patos. A resident told deputies a group of teens had been sneaking into the gated community and leaving trash on a hill. He led the deputy up a dirt road to the top of the hill. There were empty beer cans and other trash along the road. A fire pit, several lawn chairs and more trash were at the top of the hill. The resident said he frequently hikes in the area and noticed an increasing number of empty beer cans since the beginning of summer.
2 Burglary was reported at 9:08 p.m. Aug. 5 in the 5200 block of East Paseo del Bac. A resident told deputies the following: He left his house at 6 p.m. and discovered the burglary when he returned at 8:50 p.m. He said he found a broken window in a bedroom. Two guitars, a television set, recording equipment, a safe, several vintage quarters, a pistol, a compact-disc player, a passport, a car title and several other legal documents were taken.
3 Fraud was reported at 12:14 p.m. Aug. 5 in the 7700 block of East Via Ventana Norte. A resident told deputies the following: She was checking her bank statement online and found three fraudulent transactions. Two withdrawals for $500 were made in Tempe and one pending withdrawal for $500 in Phoenix. She called her bank about the fraudulent activity and was told it would be investigated.
4 Larceny was reported at 11:54 a.m. Aug. 5 in the 6700 block of East Kiami Street. A resident told deputies someone stole a wrought-iron sign from her front yard. She said the sign was attached to an iron post.
5 Malicious mischief was reported at 12:36 p.m. Aug. 5 at Catalina Foothills High School, 4300 E. Sunrise Drive. The head of school security told deputies he found a keypad hanging by the cable at a parking lot entrance. The keypad was damaged.
6 Fraud was reported at 9 a.m. Aug. 5 in the 10200 block of East Rio de Oro Drive. A resident told deputies she received a phone call and a letter from Bank of America about fraudulent activity on her checking account. She said someone withdrew $500 from her account at an ATM in California. She told deputies a second attempt to withdraw another $500 was declined.
7 Burglary was reported at 7:59 a.m. Aug. 5 in the 10900 block of East Tanque Verde Road. A resident told deputies someone took the washer and dryer from his utility room. He said the utility-room window was open and the screen was gone.
