Butterfly magic: Interact intimately with brilliant, non- native butterflies in a tropical exhibit or help customers in exhibit gift shops. The fun starts in October, and training is required; call soon.
Missile docents: Conduct tours of a National Historic Landmark, previously a top- secret facility. A love of history, an upbeat personality and an easy interaction with the public are required.
Art for kids: Travel to area schools, grades K-8, and present one-hour interactive programs combining art appreciation, interpretation and hands-on art activities. Training includes tips to engage students in meaningful discussion.
Disability rights: Advocate for the disability culture and the rights of those living with disabilities. A board of directors is recruiting board members with a general interest in disabilities or with expertise in finance, marketing and fundraising.
Office help: Answer phones, greet visitors and help with light office duties weekdays noon to 2 p.m. Tuberculosis test included.
Preschool story time: Read a book of your choice; include puppets and props to add to the excitement.
F.E.E.D. (Feed Everyone Every Day): Coordinate an open-air program that provides hot meals Thursdays and Sundays to about 200 people. Supervise a team that arranges for donated food or clothing and manages on-site details.
Public broadcasting: Front-office volunteers at a public radio station greet and guide guests, including those scheduled to appear on the air; maintain the calendar; and assist with projects or events.
Tu Nidito training: Volunteer applications are being accepted for comprehensive training that begins Sept. 13. Trained volunteers can mentor a seriously ill child or help in support groups for grieving or sick children and their families. Call Rebecca Martin, volunteer coordinator, at 322-9155.
Filing: Build clerical experience by filing alphabetically at a South Side state office. Lifting boxes and climbing a small stool are required.
