Tucson police Wednesday updated their search for a man wanted in a Midtown bus-stop stabbing, releasing an image of a new suspect and saying the man previously identified as the assailant is no longer wanted.
The stabbing occurred at the bus stop at East Grant and North Palo Verde roads about 1:15 p.m. July 17. The assailant stabbed the victim after they both got off a bus, said Sgt. Fabian Pacheco. The victim suffered a serious but non-life-threatening stab wound to his right abdomen.
Police initially released bus-surveillance images of a slender man wearing a white T-shirt, but said Wednesday that man is no longer the focus of the investigation.
The man pictured in the new photograph is about 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall, weighing about 220 pounds, with sandy brown and gray hair. He has tattoos on both arms and a white mustache and is missing his right eye.
Anyone with information about the incident should call 911 or 88-CRIME.
