An 18-year-old man was seriously injured when he was struck by lightning Tuesday afternoon while doing work on the roof of a Sahuarita home.
The man suffered life-threatening injuries and had to be hospitalized, according to Capt. Melissa Smith of the Green Valley Fire District.
He was working on the roof of a home in the 16900 block of South La Villita Road — north of South Nogales Highway —around 4 p.m. when he was struck, Smith said.
The people who live in the mobile home went to a neighbor's house and called 911.
Sahuarita police were first on scene and found the man unconscious on the roof, Smith said. Officers began administering CPR to the man until Rural/Metro Fire District arrived and took him to St. Mary's Hospital.
