The Pima County Sheriff's Department is holding a Shred-A-Thon this morning so people can discard any documents with private information that could be used by identity thieves.

The event is free and open to the public. It is not open to businesses.

It will be held at Foothills Mall, 7401 N. La Cholla Blvd. — east parking lot — from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Shred-A-Thons will continue to be held every other weekend through October at various locations in Pima County, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Department.
