Health and human services for low-income families: The CARE Fair, July 18-19, offers one-stop shopping for many services, including dental and medical exams, legal services and food baskets. Many volunteers are needed to help with registration and logistics. To sign up, visit www.volunteersoaz.org.
Develop your résumé: Sharpen your clerical and customer- service skills while volunteering in a busy state district office in Downtown Tucson. Help with filing, answering phones and data entry. Call 881-3300.
Tucson envoy: Do you treasure Tucson? Do you want to share its wonders with 70,000 annual guests? Volunteer four hours per week with a strong customer-service orientation and a sunny smile.
Healing adults: Demonstrate caring support to adults recovering from mental illness or substance abuse. Talk, play games, go on outings, practice daily living skills or simply be a companion in a residential setting.
Birthday cards: Make a sick person's day brighter. An interfaith HIV/AIDS network needs a volunteer to monitor birth dates in a database, have staff sign cards, and mail them weekly.
Information tech: Maintain the Web site and computer system for an agency that supports pregnant teens.
Pre-med or pre-nursing hospice training: Gain valuable insight into patient care, pain control and symptom management in an inpatient hospice unit. Receive extensive training in aging and dying issues; classroom and clinical experience.
Matchmaker: Evaluate and train shelter dogs waiting for service training. Experience in positive training techniques or clicker method is preferred.
Facilitate personal growth: Mentor previously incarcerated individuals. Empower them to make positive life choices, develop healthy relationships, set goals and problem-solve for a better quality of life.
