The City Council will consider raising fares for Sun Tran and Van Tran service Tuesday. After some complaints about the 25 percent increase, city Transportation Director Jim Glock came up with an alternative rate increase that shields those who pay the reduced economy fare, while shifting some of the burden to express and shuttle route riders. After seeing no fare increases in eight years, Glock also has included a plan for indexing the fares to automatically go up with the Consumer Price Index.
