The Golder Ranch Fire District is honoring its largest class of academy graduates since its inception in 1977 at a ceremony Friday.
Seventeen men and women completed the three-month training at the Golder Ranch Fire District Firefighter Academy, according to a news release from the Fire District.
The graduates will begin their public service on Monday.
The Northwest Side has been growing rapidly, the release said, and the new firefighters will help the district that serves Oro Valley deal with that growth.
Golder Ranch also has plans to open two new fire stations within 10 months, the release said.
