Tucson Time Capsule : Glen Campbell at Tucson Mall

Tucson, Arizona | Published: 05.14.2008
The Tucson Mall was, to say the least, a rather unusual setting for a Glen Campbell concert. But when you add the fact that some of the audience members were dressed in formal attire, it makes for an even more unlikely scene. But, that's what happened on the evening of May 14, 1983, when the Black and White Ball, a benefit for the Hunger Project, was held at the mall. About 2,000 people attended the fund-raiser and according to the Star review, Campbell's performance was low-key and satisfying. The acoustics, however, left a bit to be desired and then there was the issue of that big fountain right in front of the stage.
