The driver of a pickup truck that crashed on the South Side Sunday, killing a passenger, was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter, an official said.
Phillip L. Woodyard, 44, was booked into the Pima County jail Sunday night after the crash, said Deputy Dawn Hanke, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman. Woodyard was not seriously injured in the crash, which killed the 58-year-old passenger.
The two men were in the white pickup as it sped north on South Contractors Way near East Ajo Way just after 4 p.m., Hanke said.
Woodyard lost control of the truck, and it rolled on its side, Hanke said. The truck returned to an upright position and was on its wheels when deputies arrived.
Hanke had no further details about what caused the crash or how the passenger died.
She said traffic investigators suspect alcohol may have been a factor.
