Please join the Arizona Daily Star in helping local children. Today's Star includes an envelope that you can use to mail checks so children from low-income or military families can go to camp.
Each year, readers give generously to help the Star send kids to camp. It's a tradition we're proud to lead.
We need your help. Our goal is to raise $200,000 by June 1, in time to send 720 kids to YMCA, Boy Scout and Girl Scout overnight camps, and to Camp Courage for burn survivors.
In 2007, the program sent 714 boys and girls. Of those, 229 were from military families.
Since 1947, the Sportsmen's Fund has helped pay for more than 32,000 children to go to camp.
The fund is one of the oldest 501(c)(3) charities in Southern Arizona and is qualified with the state for donors to receive a tax credit of up to $400.
Use today's envelope or send donations to Send a Kid to Camp, P.O. Box 16141, Tucson, AZ 85732-6141.
