Jonas Brothers tickets' system tricky

Jonas Brothers fans can start lining up at 12:01 a.m. Saturday to buy the best tickets for the pop-punk trio's Jan. 31 Tucson Music Hall concert.
But here's the rub: The person first in line may not get first dibs at tickets in the front 20 rows. And you can only get tickets in the front 20 rows if you buy them in person, at the Tucson Convention Center Box Office.
TCC Box Office officials will begin distributing numbered wristbands at 7:30 a.m. Saturday. At 9 a.m., they will draw a number at random and that number becomes the starting place, said Marty Carey, the TCC's ticket office manager.
For example: If 99 is chosen, the next number is 100, 101, 102, etc. The person with No. 98 will be the last in line.
The idea was part TCC's, part Jonas Brothers', Carey said. The intent is to prevent ticket brokers from buying up the best tickets then selling them at prices often double or triple their $39.50 and $49.50 face value.
"It's a way for us to weed out the scalpers, but also to let our fans who are really the die-hards to get the first 20 rows," oldest Jo-Bro Kevin Jonas, 20, said in a phone interview Thursday from New York City. "Because that's what's important to us, for our fans to be there."
Jonas said he and his brothers learned a big lesson from the fiasco surrounding ticket sales for Disney superstar Miley Cyrus (aka Hannah Montana). The brothers toured with the teen pop star for several months.
Ticket brokers gobbled up the best seats, in some instances before they were released to the public. They then sold them for higher prices, prompting some parents to complain to state and federal lawmakers and threaten a class-action lawsuit.
"The ticket brokers who were buying the tickets and demanding such high prices for our tour with Miley would hire even the homeless … to camp out for days for the first 20 rows, and our fans still wouldn't get the tickets," Jonas said. "So we wanted to do a lottery system where you could be there three days in advance or you could be there an hour before they go up and you could be the first one to get a ticket."
Carey said fans won't be able to begin lining up until midnight. Security will be posted at the box office in front of the TCC. No tickets will be sold at the Music Hall Box Office.
Meanwhile, the remaining rows of tickets will be available online at www.ticketmaster.com beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The Jonas Brothers kick off their "Look Me In The Eyes Tour" with the Tucson date. On Wednesday, they wrapped up a months-long arena outing with Cyrus.
This is the trio's first solo outing. Since they released their debut album in 2006, they have toured with several Disney acts including Ally & AJ and Jesse McCartney, and the pop super band Backstreet Boys.
