LAKE HAVASU CITY — A Lake Havasu City woman who was hospitalized with an active case of tuberculosis on Nov. 30 will be kept in isolation until she is well enough to return home, health officials said Friday.
The length of the isolation would depend on the unidentified woman's response to medication for the bacterial infection, said Christine Bronston, a Mohave County department of public health nurse who specializes in infectious diseases. Bronston said privacy laws prevent her from specifically addressing the woman's case.
The woman worked at a Sterilite Corp. plant in Lake Havasu City. Testing is under way on employees who worked closely with the her, but none has yet come up positive, Bronston said. Sterilite manufactures household plastic products, including food-storage items.
This case is not thought to be related to that of a Lake Havasu City nursing-home patient who was battling an active case of TB and passed the disease to several others before dying this fall.
